Lee Brice surprised a crowd of bar goers at one of the historic honky tonks on Lower Broadway in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee.

The South Carolina-born country star posted a clip of the pop-up performance on Instagram on Tuesday evening (February 11). He said he was downtown for a few interviews on Monday (February 10) when he found himself at Tootsies Orchid Lounge, by the legendary Ryman Auditorium. Brice said he “just couldn’t help myself.” Brice appeared on stage to perform his newest single, “Cry” for the first time live, he noted when he greeted the audience.

Brice released “Cry” on January 31. The heartfelt single marks the singer-songwriter’s first new song of 2025. Brice wrote it with Dallas DavidsonBen Hayslip and David Garcia. The emotional, “confessional-style track...follows a retro groove reminiscent of the great 1950s crooners and confesses that heartbreak can break a man too.”

“'Cause baby, baby, baby, baby/ All I see when I close my eyes/ Is taillights fading away in the Georgia sky/ I’ve been cryin' in my beer, cryin' in my bed/ Cryin' on the pillow where you used to lay your head/ I’ma cry myself to sleep tonight/ Who says a man don't cry?”

“Cry” follows “Summer Of Us,” “Drinkin’ Buddies” with Nate Smith and Hailey Whitters, and other recent releases from Brice. His latest full length studio album is Hey World, which arrived in 2020. The 15-track album included “One Of Them Girls,” “Memory I Don’t Mess With,” “Soul,” “I Hope You’re Happy Now” with Carly Pearce, the title track with Blessing Offor, and more. Brice recently kicked off his “You, Me & My Guitar” shows. See his list of tour stops here.
