A lucky North Carolina lottery player may soon press her luck even further after landing a huge prize in a recent jackpot drawing.
"Like Arnold Schwarzenegger said, 'I'll be back,'" joked Charlotte resident Kimberly Campbell.
According to a release from the NC Education Lottery, Campbell typically plays the Cash 5 game every day, but when she purchased a ticket for the Saturday (October 26) drawing using Online Play, she ended up matching all five numbers called to beat the 1 in 962,598 odds to win the $100,000 jackpot. After learning how much she won, Campbell was over the moon.
"For the 24 hours after I found out I was floating on a cloud," she said.
Campbell claimed her prize at lottery headquarters on Wednesday (October 30), taking home a grand total of $71,501 after all required state and federal tax withholdings. According to lottery officials, the mother of five plans to use her winnings to help put a down payment on a house.
"This came right on time for me," she said. "I'm really appreciative."
Campbell is the latest lucky player in North Carolina to win a big lottery prize. Other recent winners include a woman who landed a huge win on a game she plays "every day" and a man who said he "definitely couldn't sleep" after his win.
