The trophy for the state with the highest violent crime in the nation goes to... New York?  NOPE!  Tennessee!  

The FBI says the great state of Tennessee is where violent crime is most likely to occur. The state ranks in the top 10 for murders, robberies, and aggravated assaults. Poverty and the high school drop out rate is high, as well.  The crime, like most states, is concentrated in the major metropolitan areas.  Memphis, for example, has the fifth worst violent crime rate in the nation.
