The Lumineers' Showcase Standout 'III' Tracks In NPR Tiny Desk Concert

It's hard to imagine that just over a month ago, life in the United States was business as usual. The Lumineers were traversing the country in support of their album III, and during their stop in Washington DC visited NPR's studio to film a Tiny Desk Concert. On Monday (April 6) their session was released, and though things have certainly changed since its recording — the folk rockers, along with dozens of other artists, were forced to cancel or postpone tour dates in the wake of the coronavirus crisis — the carefree energy of the stripped down set is exactly what we needed today.

The six-piece showcased songs off their latest album, playing "Gloria," "Leaders of the Landslide," an instrumental rendition of "April," and "Salt and the Sea," before ending the set with the foot-stomping 2012 track "Stubborn Love."

The Lumineers may be hunkering down at home now, but they've been keeping busy. Frontman Wes Schultz has been partaking in live streams, while the band's co-founder and pianist Jeremiah Fraites recently shared a cover of Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box" and has been teaching fans how to play the band's songs on the piano.

As of now, they still plan to go on the second leg of their North American tour, which is set to begin in May.
