Loretta Lynnâs family shared a heartfelt message to Kacey Musgraves after the powerhouse artist performed a beautiful tribute to Lynn at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday evening (February 5). Musgraves, a six-time Grammy Award winner, took the stage at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, singing one of Lynnâs most iconic songs, âCoal Minerâs Daughter,â and playing her guitar.
âThank you, [Kacey Musgraves], for this beautiful tribute,â Lynnâs family wrote in a tweet shared on the late country legend's Twitter account on Sunday night. âThe love all of you have shown us for our mom is beyond words.â
Lynnâs family announced that sheâd âpassed away peacefullyâŠin her sleep at home at her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills, [Tennessee],â the morning of October 4. She was 90. The Butcher Holler, Kentucky-born artist was known for âCoal Minerâs Daughter,â âThe Pill,â ââDonât Come Home A- Drinkin,â âYou Ainât Woman Enough,â âFist City,â âStill Woman Enoughâ and many other unforgettable songs throughout her decades-long career. Lynn served as an inspiration to countless other artists, including Musgraves.
Musgraves reflected, following her performance, that â10 year old me singing Lorettaâs songs would never have imagined Iâd be putting my hands right where she made magic for decades. (Her 1963 Epiphone was a dream to play.) Thank you to [Loretta Lynn]âs daughters for trusting me with this moment of honor tonight. She paved my path.â
